Hell was a lot more pleasant than Lindsey first anticipated it to be, at least, this one he landed into. Aside from the whole fight to the death and possibly die repeatedly for the entertainment of Hell's —Panem, need to get the dimension name right— denizens, it really wasn't that bad. Could've been worse, like get tortured to death for their entertainment instead.

Looking at the grandeur of the 'jail' he landed himself in, blue eyes traveling over the colorful decor of new age interior design, he decided he could definitely learn to relax here. It sure beat brimstone and fire, and frankly, he kind of liked the chic design.

"But could use a little less gaudy colors," he commented out loud as he continued his exploration of the large ground floor.

"Touche," Lindsey answered with a laugh. He clapped his brother's shoulder with a grin. "It's good seeing you again, Eli. So how long did you say you've been here?"

And hence he successfully avoided talking about Lorne.

"This was my second time in," Eliot said slowly, calculating the amount of time in his head. "So about a month."

[hartless_cowboy]

"So how long before the next game?" Lindsey asked, genuinely curious about how this whole game business happened.

[retrieverchef]

"Depends on how long this one lasts," Eliot said. "We'll have about a week in between if they keep the same pace they have so far."

[hartless_cowboy]

"A week and a few more days." Lindsey pretended think about it before he grinned widely. "That's plenty of time to party."

[retrieverchef]

"It's a party, all right," Eliot drawled somewhat dryly. Not quite dry enough to sound sarcastic.

[hartless_cowboy]

Passing right by the sarcasm, Lindsey grinned widely and slapped a hand on his brother's back. "That's great. You can show me the sights after I settle in my place. They said something about the fifth floor?"

[retrieverchef]

"Yeah, you're on the fifth floor," Eliot confirmed. "I can take you up, if you want. But I'm on the third so I can't go in with you."

"What stops you from coming up?" Lindsey asked, doing well to sound casual. His interest in the matter was well masked by innocent curiosity.

[retrieverchef]

"We're not allowed on each other's floors," Eliot explained. "And that boat's not worth rockin' just because I'm a bit curious."

[hartless_cowboy]

"What happens if you do?" he asked, adding, "Say, by accident." Lindsey wondered if Eliot even knew if his brother was afraid of rocking the boat.

[retrieverchef]

Eliot sighed and shook his head. "It's not worth finding out. If I wanna find out what they'll do if I cross them, I'm gonna make sure I do it over something that actually means something."

NOT afraid, damnit. I probably was half asleep.

"Huh." Which meant no one knew. Very curious. "And no one has done something like that before?" If so, it might just be worth finding out if it was something that could be gotten away with.

You should have seen what I was typing last night before I finally gave up!

"Not that I've heard. And, Lindsey, don't get any crazy ideas. I can't fight your way outta trouble this time," Eliot admonished with a sideways glance at his twin.

Something just as bad?

"Don't need you to fight your way out for me," Lindsey answered, though he was quick to back it up with a reassuring smile. "I was just curious, asking so I can avoid it. Don't worry."

Worse......

"Yeah, sure, Linds," Eliot retorted. "I only grew up with you. I couldn't possibly recognize that look."

[hartless_cowboy]

"You mean the one you see in the mirror?" Lindsey gave Eliot a friendlier smile and elbowed him lightly. "I wouldn't do what you wouldn't. If you say you wouldn't break the rules, I wouldn't either."

[retrieverchef]

"Why doesn't that make me feel any better, Linds?" Eliot shot back, a teasing grin on his face. "You always used to say crazy shit like that right before ya did somethin' dumb."

[hartless_cowboy]

"That's a load of bull," Lindsey argued back with his own smirk. "You're the one who did the dumb things, and it's the truth. They weren't things you wouldn't have done."

[retrieverchef]

"Yeah, well, that's not the case this time," Eliot retorted with a slightly worried look. "Not here."

[hartless_cowboy]

Lindsey shrugged his shoulders easily. "You wouldn't do it, I get it. That's why I said I wouldn't either, okay?" Except he made a career out of being a flawless liar.

[retrieverchef]

"You still have a tell, Linds," the longer haired twin replied with a quiet sigh.

[hartless_cowboy]

Lindsey's eyebrow twitched and he glared at his brother. "I do not have a tell."

[retrieverchef]

"Yes," the younger twin retorted with a smirk. "You do. Ya never lost it."

[hartless_cowboy]

That may be so, but Lindsey was smarter than to give himself up like that. "How can I have a tell if I wasn't even lying?"
