Diana was...unhappy, if the understatement could be forgiven. Taken from her bed, stripped of her powers, tossed into this world where she was meant to fight and kill for the entertainment of the ruling class...

Well, she was familiar with concept, obviously, but that didn't mean she liked it. And she liked even less what little she'd understood of the situation, of the history, before she'd been ushered to her quarters. As soon as she was left alone she was off, exploring the building, the city, anywhere she was allowed to go in search of answers. Of a crack in the prison walls.

Well, if Diana happens upon a sushi place, she'll find...this turtle. Yup. A turtle. Easting sushi. What are the odds? And judging by the fact people kept interrupting him during his lunch for autographs and pictures, he was not a native.

...Though he really wished he could finish his sushi.

Diana had seen stranger.

Well. It's pretty high up there, just with the combined factors of the giant turtle and the sushi, but still, she's got experience with this sort of thing. So when she entered the sushi place, in need of some fuel if she was going to continue her explorations, to see a giant turtle she didn't even blink.

Alright, so she stared a little, but thoughtfully, and after a moment went over to him, leaning close as she spoke, "I don't wish to intrude, but if you like, I can sit next to you and pretend we are eating together. It won't hold off everyone, but sometimes they'll hesitate to ask if they see you're with someone else."

"...Oh." At this, he turned to the woman as she spoke. "Yeah, no, I don't mind if you don't mind the rumor mill that will come out of it."

It was pretty obvious she wasn't Capitol, just by the way she spoke. He'd noticed that the people of the Capitol had a certain way of speaking, and this woman was...not speaking that way. Not even taking into consideration her looks, which were also very not Capitol. So he motioned for her to take a seat next to him.

"I've dealt with rumor mills before and survived," she assured him, taking the seat. "I've never been here before, do you have any recommendations? It can be difficult tracking down places with a decent vegetarian option, I've found."

"All right then." Don thought. "Well...there's not much that isn't at least pescetarian in Japanese cuisine. It you want to go fully without animal-based products, your best bet might be agedashi without broth."

"Fish, I'm fine with eating," she said, raising her hand for a waiter. "But agedashi right now sounds delicious. If there was ever a time for comfort food, I think this would be it," she added, grinning to soften the reminder of their bleak reality.

"That works." At this, Don smiles back. "Normally mine'd be pizza, but...well, it's been awhile since I've been in a good, low-budget sushi dive."

"Pizza is a fantastic comfort," Diana agreed. "I think it's more suited for when you're home and need something to share with whoever's around. A family affair." A team affair, and Diana had never gotten around to asking how they managed to get still warm pizza up to the space station, come to think of it.

"Yeah...definitely."

A piece of sushi hung about half-way from his mouth on two chopsticks for a moment, as if in as much thought as the turtle about to eat it. It really was true. Being at home, with his brothers, eating pizza...

"Uh...so." Quickly he popped the piece into his mouth, downing it in one gulp. Idle talk was probably best to dispel the awkward. "Where's home for you? I mean, before coming to Panem."

"I'm sorry, I didn't mean to cause an attack of homesickness," said Diana softly, so that the gawkers wouldn't overhear. "As for my own home, well, originally I came from an island called Themyscira." She had briefly considered hiding her heritage, at least at first, but decided against it. Those in charge here knew enough to lock away her powers, not to mention her lasso, and to lie to her fellow Tributes would only inspire distrust.

"No, its ok!" Don gave her a reassuring smile. "Its fine.

A beat.

"Themyscira?" Blink. "Pardon me, but isn't that..."

Where did he hear about it? What book?...Oh. Oh."

"Greek mythology? That's a city from that, right?"

"Yes!" Diana beamed, pleased at the recognition (and well used to her home being relegated to mythology). "Home of the Amazons. Also called Paradise Island. I think the name suits it, but then, I'm biased. Where do you call home?"

Not gonna lie, I'd watch it too

"Wow, so...that must mean you're really an Amazon? Its a real place?"

This wasn't going to turn into a Y'Lyntian thing, was it? No, this lady's normal-looking.

"Actually, I'm from New York City."

"Born and raised," she confirmed with a smile. "And it was real enough last I saw." And well on it's way to returning to it's former glory, after the disgrace and banishment that Circe's meddling had brought to the island and it's people, not to mention Ares' attempts most recently to bring it back to ruin.

"Oh, I've always loved visiting New York. Never lacking in adventure. Have you always lived there?"

"My whole life," Don replied. "Well, technically the sewers of the city. But still the city!"

"You lived in the sewers?" she asked without thinking, before the answer came to her and she continued, "For privacy, I assume? Or am I wrong in thinking that humans are the main sentient species of your world as well?"

[polyturtle]

"Both, actually." Another piece of sushi into his mouth. "Though we don't live in the sewers proper at the moment. And...well, obviously I'm...here in Panem."

"Right," Diana nodded, poking at her own food. "Here we are in Panem. Certainly an enthusiastic welcome." She glanced around at their spectators, some of whom had obviously already realized she must be a new Tribute. Or perhaps there's been some sort of announcement.
