As soon as things started to go crazy Clementine ducked her head down and did her best to stay out of the way. She knew her best option was to retreat to her own district, her room or to find someone she knew and hide with them.

The last thing she wanted to do was draw attention to herself and end up like those people they'd dragged off.

However she can't ignore the startling presence of a child even younger than herself, standing out in the crowd courtesy of her bright pink hair. Clementine hesitates just for a moment, warring between her own sense of self-preservation and her compassion before grimacing and ducking over next to the new tribute.

"Hey! Hey, it's okay, you're going to be okay. You need to be quiet though, everything's alright, they're not going to hurt you." she thinks so at least. They'd already gotten the people they wanted, so long as the rest of them stayed quiet and didn't fight they should be okay.

The girl with her very obvious hair jumps at the initial 'hey!' and she looks at this other girl with surprise. Then nods when she's told to keep quiet.

"Why did they take those people?" She looks towards the doors, as if they could come back at any time.

While she's still fairly scared she's looking a lot less shaky with someone talking to her.

Clementine's knowledge of what's spurred this sudden show of force is shakey but she's not entirely without an idea. "I think someone was murdered, someone important. They think a tribute did it."

She crouches next to her. "The ones they took... they must be suspects. I think the rest of us are safe so long as we stay out of their way."

"Murdered!?" Understandably Chibi-Usa is shocked by the idea, but then again she also has no idea who it was that was murdered. "But why would anyone here do something like that?"

When you believe in the best inside everyone, the thought of a tribute killing someone when they don't have to is really confusing, not only that but the whole concept of tributes wanting to kill other tributes in the arena is beyond her too.

"Stay out of their way." She parrots then nods. "After tonight I think that will be easy." They were terrifying and she doesn't want to be near them anymore than she has to me.

"Yeah." Clementine doesn't find it that unbelievable honestly, not motivation-wise anyway. That someone would take such a risk? That's a whole other story. "It was someone from the Capitol, a lot of the tributes aren't happy being here and... they don't always treat us nicely."

This girl must know what she was here for, surely. Just the idea of that could drive someone to kill if they thought it had a chance of striking back at their captors. "I'm Clementine. What's your name?"

"But that doesn't mean they have to kill them. Couldn't, Couldn't they have just talk to them? Maybe there was a misunderstanding?"

Oh Chibi-Usa knew exactly why she was here, didn't mean that she understood why anyone would actually want to kill someone, even if they were upset with them.

"Usagi Tsukino. Everyone calls me Chibi-Usa."

Clementine looks at her with a mix of sympathy and bitterness. She remembers when she was young enough to think that way, to be naive enough to think that problems between the living could be solved so easily. "If it was as easy as talking we wouldn't be here. Whoever did it must have thought they didn't have any other choice."

She gives the most reassuring smile she can manage. "Nice to meet you, Chibi-Usa." If that's what everyone calls her Clementine will do the same. "You can call me Clem for short if you want. It's nice to meet you."

Possibly the sad thing about her thinking this way is that many of the conflicts she's been a part of Usagi's either convincing them what they're doing is wrong and cleansing them of hate. Or, they can't be reasoned with and are killed.

Though if she had a moment to reflect on that she'd realise that's weirdly insidious.

She frowns when Clementine points out how that wasn't going to work here, but she makes herself smile at the girl when she introduces herself.

"You have a really cute name. It's nice to meet you too."

Clementine look pleased at the compliment. "Thanks. Where are you from? I never heard a name like yours."

And more practically she'll ask her, "What's your district?"

"I'm from Japan. We all have names like that, there."

She gives her a little smile.

"I'm in seven."

"I'm from the United States. That's really cool. I would've liked to visit another country." she nods. "Well seven is just one level up from my district. I think it'd be quieter and safer if we went up to one of those."

"Mamo-chan was going to be going there to study!" At least he was the last she heard. Then she looked around again and then nodded.

"I don't have much in my room, but I could probably find some snacks?" Being here only a few days meant she really didn't have much of a chance to get a sense of her room, let alone try and make it feel more comfortable for her.

That being said she was always raised to be polite and hospitable.
