One // He’s just a bit of a fixer-upper
Who; Kristoff and Open, with parts for Elsa, Anna and Hans
What; Kristoff has arrived and technology is baffling also finding out who is here.
Where; The tribute center
When; Backdated to 7/31
Warnings/Notes; N/A?
He should have kicked up more of a fuss he thinks now. Sure, those white knights had seemed pretty threatening, definitely not people to mess with but now Kristoff is feeling a little ashamed of himself. Who knows, maybe he could have taken them and found his way out. But then there's the question of where he even is, Panem not a country he's ever heard of. It can't be that far from Arendelle though, he almost certain he wasn't out for that long. But it's such a strange place, and not just for this whole supposedly fight to the death business.
He leaves his communicator behind in the room they've given him, determined to get so actual answers that make sense. But it's only shortly into this all that he starts getting confused, the technology far beyond what he's used to. He pauses in the common area of District 2 to stare at the screens, jumping slightly when the screens start to move and. Oh. Oh, that was someone dying, he's sure of it even if the screen has moved on. Carefully he takes a step back, looking uneasy as he leaves.
And he spends the day wandering, looking around with a sort of confused amazement. Eventually he manages to get the courage to dash onto the elevator when another person gets in, though he's clearly out of his element, grip on the bar along the side tight. This is so very strange, and though he'd be loathe to admit it, it's terrifying.
Another notable place he can be found is the kitchen. It was an accident really, he had just pressed the little leaver on the silver box out of curiosity, jumping when the light clicked on and a whirring sound came out. But then, a little cube of ice falls out, and just to test it, Kristoff presses the lever again. And then he holds it down, ice dropping rapidly, bouncing off his hand to scatter across the floor, and yeah he is grinning a little, clearly excited by this at least. At least he is, until the ice runs out, Kristoff looking confused as he presses the button a few more times.
Anyone care to clue a technologically impaired kid in?

Although he finds himself staring for a moment, he quickly notices there's ice falling all over the floor, and he clears his throat.
"You might want to grab a cup to put that in, unless you're attempting to watch people slip and fall."
He's less than amused about the idea, but hey. He'll walk around the ice and the man, going for an empty glass.

So, still looking a little annoyed he looks up at Hubert, annoyance fading into surprise at that blue hair. "It's barely any ice though." After all, he's used to balancing on large lakes of the stuff. What harm could a few cubes do.

"Barely any ice, indeed," he'll reply. "You've only just about covered the floor in it."
Not that he's particularly bothered, but he will watch his step as he approaches the fridge, opening up the door opposite as he looks in. It seems that the ice isn't coming out anymore, which is both good and probably bad for this stranger's mood.
Pulling out a pitcher of lemonade, he'll start pouring it into his glass.
"Do you not have refrigerators where you come from?"
He'll admit, this tickled his curiosity.

But he's distracted by the fridge when Hubert opens in, jaw dropping slightly as he stares. How the... This is all brand new to him and even when Hubert turns away to pour his drink Kristoff is quick to catch the door and hold it open, staring in wonder at it all.
"What's a refrigerator?"
Is that an answer?
kristoff why are you so adorable
"It's a device powered by energy." He would certainly say eleth, but ever since he's been here, he hasn't felt his home's familiar energy source. No, things seemed to work differently here. "It serves to preserve food and drink and keep them cool, even in warmer climates."
After pouring his glass, he'll leave it on the counter- coming up beside this fascinated stranger and clearing his throat, pitcher in hand. "... apologies."
We just don't know.
"How? Energy from where?" Magic perhaps? He doesn't have powers, he just knows whatever Grand Pabby shared with him and none of that had covered this. But the explanation helps some of it click, Kristoff familiar with iceboxes of course. "Like an icebox? Is that where the ice was coming from?"
He blinks a little at first, not getting what Hubert wants for a second before realising that. Oh. Yeah, he's in the way. Looking a little embarrassed he shifts, some of the ice crunching under his feet but his balance remains perfect. "Sorry."

Maybe he'll look into that, actually. He could perhaps see if there was anywhere to read about these things, or ask someone who had been here longer. But for now, he's dealing with the, quite frankly, strange fascination pouring out of his one big blond guy. "For our refrigerators, we used Water Eleth and Wind Eleth in tandem to provide the cold and to freeze the water into ice cubes."
He lets the other man shift away, nodding in acknowledgment of the apology before he'll put the pitcher right where it used to be, on one of the shelves. "It's fine."
And he'll back off, letting him investigate the fridge to his full contentment.

"Like magic," he finally asks, shifting a little out of awkwardness. He half expects the boy to say something that insults his intelligence and. It's annoying. He already felt like he was on the backfoot enough in arendelle with his time in the castle. Trolls had no formal education system ok, he learnt what he needed, and when he comes to magic he at least has some knowledge.
He shakes his had slightly when Hubert seems to offer the fridge to him again. He's explored it enough for now, he'll look into deeper when he's alone.

Wordlessly he'll back off, going back for his glass and sipping at it. "Do you have magic, where you come from?"

Now away from the fridge Kristoff looks over the rest of the kitchen. It's big, almost as big as the kitchen in the palace, but the kitchen there never felt as empty as the one here. It felt like home, what he imagined people would call home, whilst this one seems... cold. Sterile. "Uh. Some. Not everyone has it, not humans at least. The trolls do, but they're different, and only some have it really strong. I think a lot of people fear it, so I guess that says how common it is."
