Two people in sour moods is bound to go over well- and it is. And by well, it's actually not going very well at all. He can hear the condescension in Jay's voice as he speaks, and it only serves to irritate him further. When he hears Jay approaching, he moves to stand up, his posture defensive.
Just as Jay is sizing him up, he's looking him up and down and taking in everything about him in the event he has to fight. He knows the likelihood is slim, but that doesn't mean he's not going to at least prepare himself. He decides to ignore the first comment though. He has no intention of hiding under his bed, nor running off to his suite for privacy. He was here first, after all.
"Oh damn, I'm so tempted to go change now that I know you hate mauve. How can I live with myself for wearing this color?" How shallow do you even have to be to comment on someone's clothing? "Yeah, I'm new. Got here a few hours ago."
