He's not happy about the situation he's found himself in, no, not one bit. But he's not about to start off this new life, temporary or permanent as it may turn out to be, by making enemies.

But by now he figures that she can't be some employee's daughter, because that would mean she would have been here longer than just a few weeks, right? Jeez. He doesn't know better, so he assumes she's a tribute too.
