He grinned seeing she was for it. Any sign from her that he was doing all right really shined for him. He would be taking everything with her one step at a time, not rushing her into anything that would be too drastically foreign. Even going out for dinner had been a bold move, but he felt it was needed after the greenroom. The need to get away even if they couldn't leave the Capitol.
The food would arrive in the large portions he had expected it to. His original intent was to go light on the food, not knowing where he would be later and since her nerves may not let her eat much. He continued to do the speaking to the waiter when thanking him for the food and waving the man off. "So much for something light." He chuckled as he looked over all the food. "Well, eat what you can." Even though that went without saying since the culture here was pick at everything, finish nothing.
He took another drink of the wine watching her over the brim of the glass allowing her to help herself first. Not pressuring her to eat, but making sure she had something. "Great wine." He commented as he finished off the glass. Finnick definitely had no problem downing a glass and starting another, not in the Capitol. "Still, the stuff from Four is what I want for our wedding." That was a loose joke he would sneak in every so often. They both wanted to be together forever, and had every intention of doing so and the idea of a wedding was a dream, but also a joke for them.
With his public image there wasn't any way they could ever be wed in the open. Finnick would say he wasn't going to settle for anything but the best for Annie so they would wait for her to have the wedding she wanted and deserved, but behind the words they both knew the truth. It would only cause waves, even if done in secret, and Snow wouldn't tolerate it for a minute. It would leave one of them a widowed within a year.
Instead they settled for being secretly engaged, without rings, and only they knew. So a joke here and there about their "wedding plans" was a sly way of him reminding her that one day she would be his wife.
