If they weren't so close Roland could watch the Psiionic's body better and so better mimic his movements, but the fact that he can't is part of the challenge. The movements themselves are part of the challenge too and Roland rises to it, mirroring the motion of the troll's hips where he can, dodging those jabbing elbows where he needs to and, once he feels he's got a feel for this, slipping a couple motions from those old ballroom dances in, meeting the Psiionic's challenge and raising it with one of his own.

If Roland slides his foot next to the Psiionic's just so, moves his hands along the Psiionic's hips and back to try and set his posture straight, and even reaches out to grasp the Psiionic's hand to try and turn him with it and send him into a spin, well, what is the Psiionic going to do about it? He's free to try and keep the lead in this dance, to keep Roland from wrenching it away from him. Roland watches him and waits to see just what he'll do and, though he hardly thinks on it, he is smiling. It's a small smile, Roland still looks smug, but it's there and he looks pleased, too, hasn't had a chance to tease and challenge simply for the sake of it in quite a while and slips into it again with some satisfaction, and no hesitation at all.
