The observation still comes as a jolt to Luna's senses; she's gotten so used to hedging any talk about herself before and after arriving in Panem that it's become her default behavior without her realization. Roland may not not mean much by it, but Luna does feel bad for skirting around the topic so much. "I'm sorry," she says. "I don't mean to--well, I'm not very good at talking about this matter. The details are public now, but it's...embarrassing." Embarrassing might or might not be the best word for it, but it fits at least. Luna takes another sip of her drink, and whether the red tinge to her cheeks is from the alcohol or from a creeping sense of shame isn't entirely clear. The stare Roland was giving her a moment ago hasn't really helped, either.

That he claims she doesn't owe anything makes her pause, though. Luna isn't much for defiance most of the time and and she usually feels obligated to do what people want anyway, so she's thrown off guard by the suggestion. "Um--well--I wouldn't say nothing..." There is a certain amount of mutuality to the relationship as she understands it, even if the sponsors hold the greater share of the power. "But it is true I haven't made a deal with some of them yet, so I still need to think more about it."
