I- District 3 Suites

James only had one thought in his mind at the moment as he got dressed that morning: Who has two thumbs and feels sick about being one of the most useless Tributes in his District?

This guy. Or at least that's what he thinks after seeing that his previous media presence hasn't improved past "crazy widower". He's not the brightest of the D3 Tributes, James knows this, but he knows that he doesn't want to add more onto Dave Strider's plate and have to deal with a man whose grief issues were all too public for his comfort.

So…this is the day that James Sunderland decides to change his lot in life and gets right down to business. He sits on the nearby table, reading glasses on the side and studies. There's something to be said when he wants to make up his previous stupidity in Arena 14, and know his competition. Should any Districtmate come by, he might wave a quick hello.

There's also a small bag of toys he hopes to deliver soon.

II- Training Area - SH2 Spoilers abound

If James learned anything from Anna's victory, is that taking charge is the only way to make it out of the Arena. And that included something that Silent Hill made very easy: he had to kill someone. He still remembered how easy it was to do away with every monster the town threw at him. But monsters were one thing, people were another. As much as Sunderland tried to replace each dummy with a Lying Figure or a Mannequin…Eddie's death still took precedence, especially what he said at the meat locker.

"Don't get all holy on me, James. This town called you, too. You and me are the same. We're not like other people. Don't you know that?! Let's party!"

The words echoed with every stab or every hit James inflicted on the training dummy. Yes, this is what should fuel his survival now: James knows he's like Eddie, that he once resorted to murder in his life.

There was something so disconnecting about watching Tony Stark, one of the first friendly faces in Panem, fall lifeless, his head blooming into a wild mess of blood and grey matter. Tony didn't deserve that, only monsters did. The former clerk chuckled as he stopped to check his broken radio.

"Shouldn't you be going off the charts at this rate?"

III - The Capitol - Outside a Clinic

But Eddie's words were nothing like the pleas that never really left him:

"Why did you kill me?"

"I…I was weak, I was selfish," James responded in a whisper to the psychiatrist he booked an appointment with, letting his mind wander back to Room 312 of the Lakeside Hotel.

"How do you mean?" Dr. Giovanna de Ventura, a fairly middle aged woman whose beak-like face looked just a little too tight to be natural, asked for their session. Sunderland expected this sort of deal from the Capitol but he still hesitated to confess.

"Th-this is confidential, right?" he asked, "I really don't want to cause my Escort any more trouble." Young or not, Dave didn't need that added to his work load.

"As it can be, you are a Tribute after all," the doctor reminded him, "Should the Capitol need to see the records-"

"I'm pretty sure they know what I did," Sunderland cut in, his bark worse than his bite. "I meant Celebrus."

The doctor shook her head, "In that case, yes, completely confidential. Now…care to explain?"

When James stepped out, he carried with him a prescription and a step taken in a new direction. If he can't return to Silent Hill and join Mary at the bottom of Toluca Lake, then he has to seize life in Panem and rebuild. He's due to work in a store as a clerk two blocks over, a function he still remembers vividly from before Mary's illness. The pay is crap but it's a start!

IV - District 7 - Toy Delivery!

Starting with James arriving at District 7 with a bag full of toys and storybooks he's managed to buy with his meager salary. The black mage has certainly become part of Sunderland's life and he's more than happy to make sure the strange boy is happy and safe.

He tries to be subtle about it, just drop the bag at Vivi's room and be on his way before he's caught by staff, easy right?

Maybe.
