Phillip knew fear when he saw it; he'd lived with it for five years back home. He considered himself below average in combat but what he did have and he could see in "Jeyne" is the element of cooperation.
"You don't have to fight all the time, it's very unwise to engage at every turn. But you will have to defend yourself against other Tributes, and do your best to make it out of the situations alive. This is about outlasting the competition," he explained as best he could. "So, uh, hence my question...I need to know if you can stand on your own or if you'd prefer to have one of your fellow District Tributes keep you safe at least for a while. I can't guarantee it but that can help."
