His eyes do reopen, and he catches her blinking as she writes her message. It makes his heart ache. It's a hard thing, having to face betrayal and hurt, but it means more to him still that she believes what he's said. Some part of him is worried still that people won't, and he dreads what might happen when he inevitably talks to people who were closer to him.
