Did that make her feel better, to know that her suffering would mean nothing in a few weeks time? She had to decide that, didn't she? Would she be bitter and hold her anger close, or play the victim for a week and let it go? She had it in her to be the better woman. Or she had the breeding for it, at any rate. She could easily let the pain go. But wouldn't that minimize it? Wouldn't that mean that Eponine would get away with it?

"Is it better to forget it and pretend that it all meant nothing?" She wondered aloud, not quite expecting Linden to answer. It was as if she'd forgotten she was mid-conversation with him, as if he wasn't even there.
