"That is Bilbo, though if he's younger than you remember him it's likely because those in charge here can pull people from their lives at any time, young or old, as if the things after hadn't happened yet." He's not sure how to explain this to Sam in a way he'll truly understand, but from what he remembers of the Hobbit before him, Sam is far more intelligent than he seems.
