There are many things about the modern world here in Panem that Gannicus is completely willing to accept without explanation - the communicator technology, mainly, and most of the customs. Their weaponry, however, was a different matter. For someone whose entire survival depended on being able to best everyone else in the room in combat, the disadvantage was too much to swallow. He shared Nasir's frustration in not understanding it; it was one of the reasons why Gannicus knew it was completely mad to try and fight the Peacekeepers. They needed to know more about their weapons.
