"I've never killed before," Helena admitted. "Fought. Maimed, maybe. Broken a few bones, sure. But that's what a girl does when she runs across some low-rent thugs in a dark alley. I'd like to avoid killing as much as possible." This conversation, Helena decided, was hideously morbid. "But I'd like you to promise me the same. If it comes down to it, only do it because it's necessary. Or because you've figured out a way for us to be free of this place."
