"It's not about efficiency, it's about entertainment and fear. It's that simple," and maybe not that simple, but when you get down to it, fear and control are key parts of it, entertainment is an added bonus. It's sick, it's wrong, and he will stop it one day, he just isn't able to yet.

He wasn't expecting what Bucky said next, the confession like quality of it , how it felt like Bucky was confiding in him a wrong he did. Maybe trying to prove he could make his own decisions already. Still, he was expecting Bucky to deny it more than prove it.

Maybe more of the programming was broken than he realized. It's hopeful.

"I'm glad you decided not to go back," not that he left him a lot to go back to. He imagines it wasn't easy for him though. "It gets easier over time and I'm here for you every step of the way," he gives him a reassuring look, something of a smile.
