[Clementine finds out that Steve is out of the arena pretty soon after she comes down off the roof, her head feeling a lot clearer for the fresh air. The screens are doing highlights of deaths so far and she see's... well, there's no need to linger on the details.

It's easy to go up to District 9 past 6 and knock on the door. Far more appealing than going back to her own empty room. She wants to check on her friends and be amongst company rather than alone with her thoughts. It's not just Steve she knows here either, there's Dave who's also out of the arena by now.]

LET'S START THE PARTY

[Steve is sketching on the couch. A sketch that looks like an innocent landscape, but it's most definitely not. No one would know the better though, it's fully of ideas and plans - he might have been reclusive these last few days, but it's not gone to waste at all.

The knock catches his attention, looking around thinking someone was going to show up, expecting the company, but after a couple seconds with no immediate response, Steve is on his feet and answering the door.]

To what do I owe the pleasure, Ms. Clementine? [He steps aside to invite her in, giving her a smile, very pleased to see her.]

[The 'Ms.' takes her a back a moment and she has to bite her lip against the gigglesnort that threatens to escape. It takes her by surprise given how terrible she's been feeling all day.]

I, um, heard you were back too.

[Her hand self-conciously rubs her arm as she steps inside at Steve's invitation.]

How are you?

[Steve had seen the footage of what happened to Clem, but the gigglesnort is encouraging. She's not broken by the experience.

He leads her to the common, so she can be comfortable, sit if she likes.]

I'm okay, some trouble sleeping, but hanging in there. [Steve is a little more open than he usually is, but he figures she might need someone to relate to.]

And you? How are you doing?

[Clementine slips onto the couch, glancing at the closed sketchpad for a moment, crossing her legs and lacing her fingers together at first before resting her arms over her knees instead.]

Better than I thought I'd be. Doesn't feel real, somehow.

[She had the worst of it when she first woke up, she thinks.]

The door to one of the rooms burst open in an explosion of confetti and streamers as one of District nine's loudest residents came cartwheeling out into the common room wearing skin tight and shiny full body PJs. One side was black and the other was red with strange frills around the cuffs. What completed the outfit was the subtle combination of her cleavage being on display and the fluffy pink bunny slippers on her feet.

"TA DA! How was THAT for an entrance?"

Scooping up a pillowcase that was clearly stuffed with something other then pillows she pranced over to the others.

"Here I was settling down for a night of candy and smutty fanfiction and I heard people having fun without me. And that I will not abide!"

Here she opened up the pillow case exposing what appeared to be the entire contents of a candy store. The seams were practically bursting on the case itself.

"So what's say we get our sugar rush on?"

So maybe, MAYBE, Mindy was not all killing and despair and tight lipped all the time. She was still a little girl, and honestly, never had a sleepover before (for obvious reasons). She WAS, however, wearing these kind of pajamas, ones she would never have let dad see considering his distaste for Spiderman. What he didn't know wouldn't hurt him...just like her already making a few new adjustments to the pillow fort needed not to be anyone's business.

She looked at Harley, chuckling. "Harley, what the fuck are you wearing? It's a slumber party! You actually sleep in those?"

"I have plenty of different PJs." She brushed off Mindy's objection casually and popped a piece of round green candy into her mouth.

"I couldn't very well show up to this think nekkid now could I?"

"Hand me a lollipop," she said, and immediately stuck the sucker in her mouth.

"No, but you don't sleep in the buff anyway, so why would you?"

"Do you just keep all that candy around?" Clementine is taken aback at Harley's sudden entrance. At this point she's also in pyjamas, because she had it insisted on her it wasn't a proper slumber party unless so. She'd felt a little bad asking an avox to go and get her a pair of hers but the woman had actually seemed okay with it, as much as Clem could tell--

--and judge by how she'd brought back one of the cutest pairs in her wardrobe (because her stylists seemed to think cute was Clementine's thing), it's a nightgown that looks like Wendy wore it in Peter Pan.

Pretty much the opposite of what Harley was wearing, actually.

Something almost like a nightmare? The longer you're awake the less real it becomes.

[Steve is offering it because he remembers how surreal it felt when this happened to him before. How it took him a few days to come to terms he wasn't having a bad dream, that the future was real.

Because of this previous experience, he knows just how real this is.]

... yeah. Yeah like that. I feel just like I did when I first woke up here.

[And she means that literally as well as figuratively. Even down to the soreness of the dog bite on her left arm.]

I guess it'll sink in eventually.

[Yeah, Steve would know exactly what she means.]

Don't rush it. You'll figure it out in your own time.

[He reaches over and tugs the brim of her hat down like he did the first time he met her.]

I thought for sure your stylist would try to steal this while we were gone.

Yeah...

[And then she blinks and smiles softly, pleased by his gentle action. Clementine flicks it back up with her finger.]

They must have known better after I threatened them the first time.

[While Steve does know she's capable, he can't help but imagine that's like a kitten when they get all riled up an feisty. It's more funny than scary.

He doesn't laugh though, just looks amused.]

Had them shaking in their boots, huh? Next time you should threaten to put hair dye in their shampoo. God forbid if it's a natural hair color.

"Is that really a question we want the answer to though?" Mindy said. "Just be glad they don't let her keep live hyenas around!"

Harley flicked a sucker at Mindy's forehead to punish her for interrupting then turned her attention back to Clem with a warm grin.

"You bet I do! I had a pretty good stockpile built up before we were put under lock down. Good thing too! Where else am I supposed to go to get Betty bobs ever flavor Jelly seeds?" She inquired picking up a bag of said treat and popping it into her mouth. She cheered delightedly "Custard cream~"

"Who says I don't sleep in the buff? You don't know." Harley snickered and began juggling little brightly colored candy balls each the size of a golf ball. After about three rotations she popped them into the air and caught each one in her mouth causing her cheeks to bulge like a chip munks as she savored the mix of fruity flavors.

[Steve's wise not laugh at her declaration, an amused glance she'll excuse, laughter would make her bristle much like the mental image he's conjured.]

Would you help me do it if I did?

[Testing the waters, because that sounds like an awfully tempting plan to carry out someday.]

"Live hyenas?" Clementine has a vague idea of what a hyena is, some kind of big animal something like a dog that lived in Africa. "You can keep those as pets?"

Then her attention is on Harley and she can't help a half-smile in return to that enthusiasm. "Good point. So are they really every flavour?"

You don't even have to ask. [Steve gives her a conspiratorial grin.

He remembers the pranks he and Bucky used to pull on each other, all pretty harmless and cheap. It's a good memory, he's glad to have it right now. Thoughts of Bucky usually bring up sad memories more often than not.]

Just say the word, kiddo.

I'll keep it in mind.

[Something like that would probably help the itchy, restless feeling Clementine's got under skin her right now. The need to do something, however inconsequential it might be in the long run.]

Is this yours?

[She points at the sketchbook.]

She caught the lollipop easily with one hand and immediately stuck it in her mouth. Sour apple. Sweet.

"If she could, she would," she said, grinning. "Wait a minute, Betty bobs? That sounds familiar."

[hit_girl_mindy]

"If you did that you wouldn't be able to wear all those crazy outfits," Mindy reminded her, "and that's one of the best thing about you, you're insane fashion sense!"

She clapped her hands. "Cute, really cute."

[Steve looks at the object in question and hands it to her.]

Yeah, just some doodles. [It's over a quarter filled, but it's mostly people he sees around, landscapes, and random cartoons.]

You planning to stick around for a while? [He says it more like an invitation to stay.

If she does, he knows he'll need to offer more than talking and a sketchbook, that'd bore most kids after a while. What do kids do these days anyway? He remembers playing with boxes and making blanket forts. Well, there is a whole closet full of blankets...] We could make a blanket fort.

[She looks a little surprised when he hands it over like that, that she doesn't even have to ask to look at his drawings. Clementine opens it up, eyes focusing on the pages, one after another.]

Wow! You can really draw, Steve. This looks just like them.

[The comment refers to the drawing of one of the other tributes. Clem looks up at his question and thinks about it for all of one second before accepting. She wasn't going to invite herself to stay but she's glad Steve did]

... I don't think I ever made one of those before. It sounds like fun. Is it hard?
