Wandering

Sonja is angry, sonja is offended. Sonja is stomping about throwing such a hissy fit that most probably do not know what to make of it. But seriously, she is not happy, not happy at all. To be abducted by a bunch of sorcerers for some of the most idiotic reasons imaginable.

Now she was stuck here, in strange lands, with lights that have no flame and voices and smells that she could not begin to pin point. This place is most certainly not Hybpria, but it is most certainly not a remnant of bygone Atlantis. So what to do now but explore? Whether that be the area for those assigned to "District 2", the rest of the inn, or the places of shopping.

Training

So after getting herself...situated, or at least as best as she could, Sonja found herself running a hand over the various weapons and tools in the training area. Some she recognized right off the bat, others were extremely exotic in her eyes.

There were practice dummies placed around the different areas of the place. As well as other areas where people could practice more base survival skills. Something that caused her lips to quirk slightly. Just what would these arenas be like, she wondered. Certainly it would be far more than just common traps and simulated wilderness.

One could never be too certain when dealing with mages.

Her eyes were puffy and swollen, her face a mask of concentration, Sonja would see a girl letting loose on a dummy: REALLY letting loose. Pieces were strewn about, and Mindy, tiny though one might think, has shown exactly how menacing she can be. She appears to be paying no one attention either: as far as she was concerned, no one else was here.

Better that Mindy would never hear anyone say she needed a babysitter. If anything, what she needed was to let off some steam, and so far that was working just fine. A few minutes later, she was done, sweating but far from out of breath. A moment was all she needed to take stock of everything around her, and she turned to see a rather striking looking woman in the training room with her. For the moment, her curiosity was piqued.

"I haven't see you here before, and you look like you've handled a weapon before. Did you just arrive?"
hit_girl_mindy: (Up close and personal (Mindy))

"Mindy." She was never wild about people calling her 'child,' just didn't sit well with her. She liked watching the woman though: definitely seemed to know her way around with the sword.

"Judging by the get up...warrior, maybe?"
hit_girl_mindy: (Off stare (Mindy))

I'm assuming she's wearing the same outfit! If not, I'll amend.

The best name, of course. It sounded cute, innocent. Wonderful contrast.

"Digging the chainmail, very Xena. What do you fight in your world?"

Training.

Natasha's not down here to train.

Many of the others that do show up in the training room have come to do just that and that's what she's studying. Who is a true combatant and where their style originates from. How easy it will be to counter. What weapon they were best at and which one they flail embarrassingly at.

Then there's this redhead who reminds her a bit too much of herself. Watching her causes a bit of discomfort, but Natasha doesn't let it show as she lingers near a weapon's rock in her current persona: clueless woman.

It was inevitable this would happen sooner or later. Pulling in a bunch of people to tell them their lives were forfeit in favor of sport meant they would retaliate against each other.

Maybe it was a test to see if Natasha was as clueless as she was.

Taking an arrow to the shoulder is no big deal for her so she jerks down as if that will help her, a clumsy enough gesture, but more importantly it causes the arrow to pierce upright instead of down. No vital organs will be hit this way, but she can play up the pain all the same.

"What the hell?!"

[personal profile] assassinat 2014-05-12 12:35 am (UTC)(link)
Can't blame her for any of that: usually spying should be done in secret, not out like this. There's no force field for her to hide behind and watch, so the best she can do is be down here in hopes that none of them pay more than a cautious glance to her.

Then there's this woman. She's more paranoid than her, she'll give her that much.

Natasha takes note of the weapons rack near her, knowing it's close enough that she can use it for cover and pick up something herself if this ends up being life or death. An arrow to the shoulder is nothing for her, but damn does it sting.

"I wasn't spying. I don't even know how to fire one of those things." The frantic pitch of her voice only adds to the story as she brings a hand up as if that can stop the blood. It pierce right on through her back thankfully so it'll be an easy fix once she's done here. "Besides, if you didn't want to be watched, why would you wear that? It's begging for attention."
hit_girl_mindy: (No words)

Re: That is exactly what she is wearing. :3

"Nevermind, pop culture thing. So you actually fight monsters. Cool. Where I'm from human beings cause enough trouble to begin with."

Granted, how would fighting that stuff work with what she was wearing? It looked more like it would chafe than anything.
hit_girl_mindy: (disbelief)

[personal profile] hit_girl_mindy 2014-05-12 04:46 am (UTC)(link)
Mindy would have had a hard time differing between the two, actually. Truthfully, both could be pretty destructive, but it was humans who made their vendettas absolute, their mark on territory so deadly and final that they tended to be the thing of nightmares.

The Capitol in a nutshell, really.

"Well, you're here, so trouble is a given. Might want to rethink the clothes though. People tend to target exposed skin, anything they can use for an advantage."
hit_girl_mindy: (Wtf? (Mindy))

[personal profile] hit_girl_mindy 2014-05-12 04:57 am (UTC)(link)
"That sounds bad ass," Mindy had to admit. Seriously, there was just dressing like that to attract attention, but to do it and carry yourself higher than that just showed how much you thought clothing had nothing to do with fighting. That usually meant you could rock it in whatever you wore.

"I could tell you what you want to know, if you're curious."
hit_girl_mindy: (sultry for some reason)

[personal profile] hit_girl_mindy 2014-05-12 05:12 am (UTC)(link)
"What's expected? Simple enough: we give a show. The whole point in the fight is that we're representing a struggle between the government and the rebellious people years and years ago. The government won and, as punishment, hosted these games every year. Two kids from each district, a boy and a girl, reaped at will and then having to compete with the other district kids in a battle to the death. Only one kid lives."

She sighed. "Then one day this girl named Katniss and her boyfriend defy the rules. They both choose to try and end the games on their terms, the government gets nervous. So they decide to flex their muscles. Now the games are held whenever, and instead of District children, they thrown in people from whole other worlds."

hit_girl_mindy: (Glossy)

[personal profile] hit_girl_mindy 2014-05-12 05:32 am (UTC)(link)
"That's a good question. I never got it myself. You'd think it would be more effective to just take their children and have death over their heads. But the way I figure, NOW they're showing them how powerful the government is, being able to take people from other worlds. Add to that we have our own backstories with details and woes that are broadcast on their television screens, you have a winner."

Mindy looked particularly bitter about this. "As for the Arenas? They can literally be just about anything, anywhere. When you enter, the first thing you have to put in your mind is the Cornucopia. Worry about everything else afterward."
hit_girl_mindy: (For serious)

[personal profile] hit_girl_mindy 2014-05-12 05:50 am (UTC)(link)
"Oh, I don't know. I think we're just a part of their first plan. Imagine if they start recruiting the worst of people from other worlds to keep us in check? I'd rather they not make sense right now."

A good question. "It'll be the first platform you deal with when you're coming into the Arena. Basically you're making a mad dash for supplies: food, water, first aid kid. Most important, though? Weapons. That's the big thing."
