It isn't working. They aren't going to see eye-to-eye, and a part of her feels foolish for thinking that they might be able to. She's not sure what she was trying to accomplish here, but whatever it is, it flopped big time. Meulin says that she plans to leave to, and Terezi's a half-second from just letting them go, when Fraysong speaks up again.

Someone ought to. That bothers her more than she wants to admit. It feels less like a sympathetic gesture and more like an obligation. Stay with her, so she doesn't have to be alone in her failure. We can't both be here, so someone has to stay behind.

"I don't need anyone to stay for me. I'm a big girl." She gathers up her drawing things and stands, her shoulders squared. She's not going to obligate anyone to grubsit her over this. "I have other things I need to do, anyway. You both can go."

And then she goes to turn away without waiting for them to protest her decision.
