Pleased with his success at cat, Lyle continued rubbing behind its ears as he examined the animal's fur more closely. Had it just been the stripes, Lyle might have assumed that this was an alien species very similar to an Earth cat, but the other designs on its fur seemed natural rather than dyed on. Some sort of genetic engineering experiment, perhaps? But why the snazzy bow tie?

Lyle reflexively jumped back when the cat sprung out of his arms, but grinned when the cat looked back. It was apparently done being in the living room, but not yet done being petted.

"Well, I suppose if I'm invited..." he said, and followed the cat into the bedroom.
