Courfeyrac stared at each of the others in turn for a noticeably long time before adjusting his jacket and hat, preparing to depart from them as if there were some other pressing matter to attend to. The truth was, he was still cross with all of them, now for more reason than before. But it would be a lie to say he could not understand their reasons.
"I am going back to the tower," he said, his usually pleasant face twisted into a scowl. "I will tend to myself. You worry over yourselves. I'd prefer to be alone."
