It was difficult to try to express to him why those things had never even seemed option. Because it was so many little things. Some of them things she didn't necessarily want to admit to, like the thankless, hard work with no benefits.

But also, how often anyone who worked in the Districts vanished. How often the position where so dependent on connections, on very specific skills sets that you couldn't openly obtain, on, often, coming from the districts.

"Those positions are not...they are not something that are easy to find yourself in. And..." She swallowed, skirting around the guilt she felt, but also knowing, to some extent, that it was what he was in a way looking for.
