NOTES| Interviews are done by district, in descending order (12-1; saving Max for the finale.) Just look for the thread that has been specifically made for you, and show the nation of Panem what a star you are! This is the companion post to last week's backstage post, which should be considered to be taking place at the same time, in-game. There is also an Intermission thread in the middle of all the individual threads, for everyone to tag around in; watch and react and have fun.

This is it. Your time to shine.

The red curtain rises and the lights shine bright; warm on your face and halfway blinding. The music plays, blaring in your ears, mingling with the roar of the candy coloured crowd just beyond the stage. You can see your face projected on what seems to be a dozen screens as tall as houses and there's even a small undercurrent in the noise that sounds suspiciously like half a thousand strangers screaming your name.

The stage is simple. Glossy black, reflecting the stage lights and the shine of your shoes. At the center you find two plush red chairs, tall-backed and velvet, but one of them is empty. Waiting for you. In the other sits a man in a midnight blue suit and a straight white grin. His hair is a vivid aquamarine with eyebrows to match, and he stands just as someone backstage queues you to take your step out into the spotlight.

The buzz about Garrus' return is impressive to say the least, though it's debatable about how much of that excitement has to do with his unusual appearance rather than how much they care about Vakarian himself.

Elliot on the other hand was an Arena 02 favourite. Not a victor. But he made it further than most. People are already making wagers on him, and the details of Arena 03 are still a locked and sealed mystery to everyone by the gamemmakers themselves.

"So, is everyone ready to hear what Elliot Spencer has to say?" is all Caesar has to say and the sound of the cheers is almost deafening.

Eliot walks out onto the stage, waving to the crowd before greeting Caesar. He sits down across from him, as relaxed as he can be in the outfit Valeria had picked out. He might not like being this exposed and publicized but he knows how to play to a crowd.

"Welcome, welcome!" Caesar grins as he slides back into his red velvet chair. "You're looking dashing this evening. It's a pleasure to finally meet you."

"Actually, it's my pleasure," Eliot says, with a grin.

Caesar gives a laugh. "Well, I didn't want to rub it in," he teases. "But in all seriousness. Elliot. Tell us a little about yourself. Not a local boy, we know. What did you do before you came to the Capitol?"

Eliot chuckles quietly before answering the question. "I don't know if you've ever seen it, but most laws have these unintentional loopholes. The lawmakers do their best. Well, most of them do, but no one can plan for everything that can go wrong. You'll always find you missed something. And, where I come from, there are a lot of people who prey on that either instead of actually breaking the law or to cover it up. Back home, I work with a team to catch this sort of people, figure out what they're doing, and make sure they can't keep hurting people. And, when possible, do what we can to make reparations for their victims."

Caesar nods along as he listens, eyes wide and attentive. "That sounds like an incredibly noble cause. Given what we've seen from you already, I can't say that I'm surprised. Nobility seems to be your calling card."

"So tell us," he leans against his armrest casually like a friend settling in for a deep conversation, "Did that chivalrous streak of yours lead to some unexpected alliances inside the Arena?"

Eliot presses his lips together thoughtfully. "I'm not sure if I'd say any alliance was more surprising than anything else for me," he says honestly. "I didn't really have much in the way of concrete expectations. I certainly didn't expect to team up with anyone. Not that I have any regrets on that front."

"Should we expect to see similar tactics from you in the next Arena?" Caesar wonders. "Alliances have been quite common in the past. Especially among the stronger contenders, and you scored... what was it? A 9? Very impressive."

"Yeah, I scored a 9," Eliot confirmed. "As for whether I'll keep to the same tactics, you'd really ask me to give up a key tactical advantage?"

Caesar laughs, and shrugs innocently "You can't blame a guy for trying, right?"

"Tactics aside though, what would you say makes you such a strong contender in these games? You made it so far in Arena 02. Why is that, do you think?"

"It's a mix of things, really. A lot of it is the kind of background and training I came here with. I can fight and I know how to improvise. Of course, having a couple pretty girls as allies really helps, too."

Caesar grins and turns to look at the audience as he wiggles his eyebrows. Everyone laughs.

"Ah yes. There have been some very pretty girls, indeed," he muses. "Wish that there was special training to win one of them, actually. You don't think there is a class for that, is there?"

Eliot grins at that. "Sure there is," he quips. "Or, at least, there is back home. I don't know if your schools here have it. It's called Home Ec."

"Home Eck?" Caesar repeats slowly, sounding amusingly confused. "Well I may just have to look into that!"

"Seems to have worked well for you, after all. Do you mind if I ask if there is anyone in particular you wouldn't mind using this special, Home Eck training on?"

"I can think think of a few, actually."

A private dinner in the rooftop garden would be nice, invite Max, Ariadne, and Momoko. He'd cook, of course.

"Tease," Caesar takes a friendly at him. He has the suspicion that Elliot isn't going to give him much more on the subject, and that is completely fine.

"So what else can you tell us, Elliot? Have you enjoyed your time here in the Capitol?"

"In the city itself, yes, so far," he says, skillfully lying through his teeth. It helps that he's always enjoyed traveling. "Although I haven't had the chance to see much of it so far."

"Well, if you ever get the chance, there is a fabulous restaurant on Scarlet Circle that you must try," he insists. "I'll give you the name after the show if you're interested. Amazing pasta. Best chocolate cannolis in town."

He would drop the name now, but he's only allowed to give specific endorsements on live television.

In the corner of the stage, a red light blinks, signifying that this interview is drawing to an end. Only time for a few more quick questions, but the crowd seemed to have responded quite well to Elliot; not that he was concerned that they would not.

"So is there anything else that you would like to tell us, Elliot? Anything special you have done to prepare for this next Arena? A shout-out to anyone special out there who might be listening? Words of wisdom to your eager fans? The stage is yours!"

Eliot thought for a few seconds and grinned. "Don't try to do what I do at home." He winked at the audience. "At least not without proper training."

Caesar laughs along with everyone else, even claps Eliot on the shoulder in a quick, friendly gesture as he agrees, "Very good advice, indeed."

"But now, it's crunch time Elliot. Only a few minutes left before our time together is up. So tell me; tell us; what one thing would be most useful to you, - and you personally, not just in general - that would tip the odds in your favour? Remember! Sponsors may be listening!"

"A knife," he says quickly. "It works a lot better than rusty, metal plating."

He laughs and nods, "Well, I hope they see fit to grace you with one."

"The next arena opens tomorrow. I hear that tributes often like to indulge themselves on their favourite foods the night before. Do you have anything special on the menu for when you return to your room?"

"I would if there was a deep frier in the suite," Eliot replies. "But I guess I'll just be surprised instead."

"A deep fryer?" Caesar wonders, as though the concept if foreign to him. "As in, a cooking appliance? You would cook the food yourself?"
