The Crowning of Tony Stark

Who| Everyone.
What| The Crowning of Tony Stark.
Where| The New Capitol Stark Expo!
When| Friday, late afternoon into the evening.
Notes| This event is mandatory for all Tributes to attend. Even if you do not tag in, your character will attend this party.  Peacekeepers will be on high alert, so no funny business.
WARNINGS| Alcoholism / References to Alcoholism.

The Capitol might be known for its extravagance, but Stark Expos have never skimped on a show. Combining the two together could only be a recipe for the most wild indulgences. The center theater takes styling after a arc reactor, with glass ceiling and glowing blue lights set right within the metal and putting a glow to the sky. Lightshows go off on the main stage, the stark logo overhead and a massive screen displaying the Panem flag and Tony Stark's image just behind the dancing Ironettes. A circle plattform going off from the stage, clearly reserved for the guest of honor, features a design Panem's bird in red, gold, and glowing blue.

A globe is featured in the outside gardens, showing off a map of Panem, and the park is filled with artistic statues of destroyed Iron Man amror. But there's no quiet here, not with the fireworks going off all night and the consistent playing of music that is not but sounds an awful lot like that of Daft Punk, Eifel 65, ACDC, and one other song that breaks them up.

Various shows can be found about the gardens, including display models of some of Tony Stark's old weapons and Iron Man suits. Further along guests may find the Avengers display, featuring large portraits of the Avengers and their allies, large red x's going over greyed out portraits of those deemed dead, including Phill Coulson, Natasha Romanoff, and Thor. Along with these portraits can be found the Stark family tree, featuring the Victor Tony Stark and all his relations including apparent son Dave Strider, and Arya Stark, Ancestor of the Stark family, not to mention the great Howard Stark who's accomplishments (and tragic lack of care for Anthony) are lovingly illustrated. One such accomplishment being a "flying car" just a short walk over.

There's plenty for guests to do besides just ogle the brilliant sights however! A bar has been set up with a whole variety of drinking games available from Sink The Battleship and Drink Roulette to an extravagent variation of the classic game, Beer Pong, and an ongoing run of the Games with rules of drinking for each emotional scene, funny incident, or death. Those under the age of eighteen will be served fizzing juice or soda instead and can participate in junior versions of the very same games. All the cups are made from the finest glass with Tony Stark images over them. Avoxes are on scene to clean every spill and break of glass that might come.

A cave has been crafted of artificial and real material, designed to look like the Cave in which Tony Stark became a real hero, but with a twist; it's been made into a fun-for-all maze! Guests can attempt to navigate their way to the labyrinth and reach the core, avoiding those nasty pop-out rebels along the way. Those who make it to the fire-lit center may receive a limited edition "Tony Stark Heart" miniature arc reactor in a beautiful glass case.

An indoor sky diving station is also available, large enough that many guests may enter at once and still find it spacious. Here, guests can don Iron Man themed sky-diving suits and experience the sensation of flight, just as Tony Stark once did. Of course, the party doesn't start until the Victor comes in; he'll be appearing by Capitol-controlled suit to make his entrance at center stage. It is here that his Throne shall be raised up through the stage and his crown gifted to him. Following the official Crowning Ceremony will also come a speech from the Capitol's very own, Cyrus Reagan.

Tributes are dressed in formal wear with robotic accents. Such as a full mask or metal armor. Capitolites can be seen with Tony stark styled hair, bearing tattoos in his image, and even with surgically implanted lights, in honor of the new Victor. Available for purchase are handcrafted Tony Stark dolls, Iron Man action figures, and models of beloved robot-pet "Dum-E" in both small and life-sized. The Iron Man light gloves come completely free for all guests.

The Crowning ends off with a bang, as in the center of the sky, a massive "wormhole" opens up showing a vast darkness full of sinister creatures just on the other side, sure to inspire some screams from fans. Guests near to the Iron Man suit displays are asked by peacekeepers to step back-- far back-- but may be the first to witness the incredible scene of all those suits launching into the sky and exploding around and "in" the wormhole. The wormhole shifts to a message stating the show to have been brought to you by the Hunger Game's skilled Sky-Display Designers before going into advertising for the rest of the night as the party dies down.

Luckily for Nill, Oceana has gotten much more accustomed to making clothes that she might actually be fairly comfortable in. Today her dress is a light grey color with some bluish tints in the fabric - the intricate lace beading goes up around her neck to give the rest of the dress support, while also leaving almost the entirely of her back bare. It's enough that people might even be able to see that the scars on her back extend almost all the way to one hip, if they actually pay much attention to them at all. As always her hair is intricate, a zigzaged kind of braid with beads woven in to match the dress. And naturally, heels. It's not the most comfortable thing in the world, but it's pretty and Nill actually sort of likes it.

Finding friends in the party is, however, rather difficult this time around. Because the lights and the fireworks it's genuinely hard to actually find anyone she's looking for. She manages, but not without some degree of difficulty.

And with all the alcohol and possibly questionable substances at this party of course Nill would be looking for Linden. It takes a little bit of searching, but she does managed to stop him-- and then completely freezes in place, her eyes wide. They dressed him as an Avox. Why would they do that unless...?

Nill doesn't bolt, because not only would that be suspicious as hell, she's probably also fall flat on her face thanks to the heels. It only takes her a minute or so to make her way over to Linden, and when she does she already has a note written. She can't run or even really walk fast in heels, but she can walk and write.

are you ok?

Nill's dress brings out the cool notes in her hair and skin; Oceana has truly outdone herself tonight with the delicate lacing and beading, even if the dress is backless and cruelly exposes the extent of her scars. Anything to engage the morbid curiosity of the Capitol, it would seem, and that is a tremendous part of a stylist's job: to make people stare, and then to make them talk. Not that Nill and Linden have any trouble in that regard, just on their own.

While her approach isn't rushed, it seems like only circumstances and the practicality of her footwear are preventing that, and even before he sees her note, his dark eyes are widening and he's raising his hands in preparation to reassure the young woman. Though that could look a mite suspicious, he doesn't have the heart to respond with anything that could possibly be mistaken for the passive, glazed readiness of an Avox. And with how wrecked he looks from his induced illness this morning, it's not a stretch going off of appearances alone to think that he's been deprived and tortured for a few days, but then again, when does Linden ever look well?

"I'm fine," he's quick to say the moment she's close enough to hear his lowered voice. "It's just... my stylists wanted to help me fade into the background tonight and certain others wanted to make a point, and this is what they agreed on. This will blow over, try not to worry too much about it."

Thankfully the scars on Nill's back are probably the ones she's least self-conscious about - no one in Panem has ever known her without them, and if ever asked about them she would have a good story to tell. At first she was kind of anxious about them, but since then she no longer sees the point, at least not for those. They're mostly three scars, almost from the middle of her back down to one hip, and the fact that it doesn't seem to touch her wings doesn't entirely make sense.

The important thing is that whatever gave them to her was obviously trying to kill her, and it didn't. She has more shame for the dozen or so tiny scars on her hands than the huge ones on her back.

Despite his reassurance Nill doesn't actually seem relieved until Linden actually says something, at which point her eyes go a little less wide and she lets out a long exhale, shoulders drooping a little. Not as relieved as she probably could be, but definitely better than if he had actually been avoxed. Linden never looks well, but now that he's spoken Nill is sure that his appearance is just the state of him for the evening. She's fairly used to at least that not being entirely consistent.

I don't know if I like your stylists.

She's not stupid enough to write anything about the 'certain others', thankfully, but naturally the sentiment extends to them as well. But considering his (their?) night in jail, and everything with fucking Jason Compson, her worries were pretty warranted.

It's a notable case where Linden wished it was possible to take a non-native out of the Capitol to other parts of Panem. Not necessarily south to 6, but at the very least somewhere life and labor are more difficult, and scars are marks of survivors and not trite fashion statements... even those tiny ones, because surviving is not always so cut-and-dried.

She isn't relieved to quite the extent that Linden would have hoped for. His attempts to downplay this and make it seem a little less bleak and humiliating don't seem to be terribly effective, but at least she can be sure that he is not the Capitol's newest Avox. Even if he's bone-white and exhausted, he's here and relatively whole, and maybe that really is something for both of them to be thankful for.

"My stylists do what they can with what they have," he says with shrug in half-hearted defense. "Black is my color, anyway..."

He doesn't say so, but a common joke in the Capitol is that this is to save time and funeral expenses in the not-unlikely event of his sudden death. He takes it in stride, but it's more than a little depressing to know that's what people think when one is getting dressed.

"At least eyes aren't immediately drawn to me, tonight. You might still be horrified, but I'm actually very grateful. I didn't want to be here at all."

It really is, and compared to what she thought might have been the case just a few moments beforehand, this is a considerably better outcome. But at the same time, what good the outfit does him might not mean much if the reporters decide to take photos and write about his resemblance to an Avox. There's a lot of possibility for more unwanted attention than usual, or rumors of rebelling, both of which would be incredibly bad.

blue would be better.

It's hard to picture him in lighter colors, save for maybe a white shirt, but a dark blue or green might suit him. Even a change like that would probably circulate rumors, but Nill is starting to think those are unavoidable at this point.

they made you come?

Tributes couldn't skip, but that didn't exactly mean a great deal. Tributes were depressingly low on the food chain around here, and any kind of autonomy they might think they have was almost guaranteed to be something they were allowed. An easy illusion of freedom; the Mentors only seem to have it better by a very slight amount.

While Nill waits for him to talk she tucks her notepad under an arm, before using her hands to feel around on her skirt. It takes a moment, but eventually she manages to pull a bandage off somewhere, and when she does the dress lights up in a soft florescent glow. It matches her heartbeat, which is why she'd kept it off up until now. Since she's found Linden there's not much she'll have to worry about it spiking over.

"Blue?"

Linden shrugs one thin shoulder listlessly.

"They put me in that a long time ago. A darker shade, they called it... cobalt. From there it just got darker; all of Panem knows that a lot of things did."

He clears his throat, mostly so he'll have something to do with his empty hand. He's trying really hard not to drink, knowing full well that once he starts, he probably won't be able to stop.

"Yeah... you should know by now that being a Mentor is just a step up from being a Tribute. We're still Districters, and even though we certainly have admirers among the Capitol elite, we're never, ever going to be considered one of them. So while they get a choice, we have to go to the parties. Our obligation to be here is every bit as pressing as the centerpieces'."

The pulsing lights on her dress cause his eyebrows to go up. "That's different. In a good way. Your designer's outdone herself... also in a good way."
