Had you from the beginning

Who| Anna and all y'all
What| Exploring the Capitol and probably getting into trouble.
Where| The tower and various locations around the capitol.
When| 7/2-7/4
Warnings/Notes| Nah.

one. the tower

The first thing Anna does is conduct a thorough survey of her new digs. All the electronics are frightening, but she's learned to use the panels in the walls well enough to survive, and she can turn things on and off, which is exciting. But she wants to see everything, so she can be found wending her way through various common areas and hallways, peeping into the training center and attempting to use a sword before learning that she can barely lift a sword, let alone wield one. Okay, so maybe it's not her forte, but if she's lucky someone can show her a better way to defend herself.

two. pier twelve

The spirited princess is drawn to the amusement park, and as soon as she catches word of it, she has to go out and see it for herself. She spends almost a whole day riding the fantastic rides she finds there; the Ferris wheel in particular is enthralling, because from the top of it she can see the whole Capitol. So of course, Anna rides it over and over, peering breathlessly over the edge of her gondola. It's clear to see that she's never seen anything like any of this before, and she's eager to babble about it to anyone who crosses her path.

three. the streets

Anna's seen amusement parks and restaurants and a lot of other fantastic things, but after awhile she finds she just wants to wander the streets of the Capitol, fascinated by the strange buildings and the even stranger inhabitants of this new place. People wear the most interesting things, she finds, things she could never picture herself wearing in a million years. She doesn't exactly watch where she's going, very well; more than one busy Capitolite loses her fancy coffee because Anna's more interested in looking around than at where she's going. But she's chipper, apologizing to whomever it is she's bumped into and perhaps even asking them a question or two about her surroundings. She doesn't have to like being here, but she does have to adapt.

2 I hope this is okay?

Dennett isn't much for amusement parks. He's still partly in the 'what the hell is going on here' phase. He's an old man: his brain doesn't adapt to new things as easily.

He doesn't ride any of the rides--does he look like the type? But he somehow got forced--the crowd pushing him along--and he somehow finds himself in one of the Ferris wheel gondolas, next to another person. He flashes her a tense smile, trying to hide the way his hands grip the bar, and the little "Eep," as the ride begins, the gondola lurching into movement.

Someone's not good with heights.

yay! :D

"Like a Ferris wheel?" He sounds surprised, in spite of the queasy 'oh god the ground is leaving us' feeling he's getting. She looks like a normal girl--how has she never seen a Ferris wheel before?

"I. Uh. Well I suppose it's safe then." Half spoken to himself. If she's ridden it six times and not died, it must be safe. Safe-ish.

"Yet." Dennett was not a young man, but Ferris wheels had been around since he was a little boy. "Is it...is it rude to ask where--or when--you're froOOOM?" The last syllable gets a little extra oomph as she makes the gondola swing, his knuckles white and the safety bar. "Uh, well, I haven't spent a lot of time up high, except in airplanes." And those he mostly sleeps through.
biomechatronic: (am I judging you or just confused?)

Dennett did...all right in history, but he can't remember an 'Arendelle'. It must be, maybe one of those tiny European republics. Like Luxembourg, one of those places barely bigger than its name. "That's...well, I can't remember when Ferris wheels were invented." He'd thought before that. Hadn't Coney Island...oh he doesn't know. He's a robotic expert, looking forward, not back. "It really wasn't, you know, my field of expertise."

As she stands, he can't help but twitch, his hands coming off the railing, as though he--hahahaha--is going to steady her. "I...uh. I see. Please. I...could you sit down?" Not because he's nervous or anything. Nope, not at all.

He tries to look, you know, cool, as she settles back down. At least he doesn't have to worry about her somehow magically getting sucked out of the seat by some evil grip of gravity. "No, no. Of course not." He's lying. "I just, well, it's silly. I am more of a ground person."

"Anna. I'm Dennett. Dennett Norton." Well, that's taken care of. But this needs more conversation so he doesn't notice the way the horizon is receding as they rise in the air. "So, what do you do when you're not here, Anna?"
biomechatronic: (dramatic pointing)

"I wish it was some place nicer than this." Because she seems...really sweet, and he can't imagine her in the Arena. And he doesn't want to. "Docto--just Dennett, please." He corrects himself correcting her. Surely a first. But all that--what did any of that mean here?

Except for 'princess'. Was she--yes, she apparently was serious. "That sounds...really wonderful. Until..." Until the Arena.
biomechatronic: (this is serious)

[personal profile] biomechatronic 2014-07-13 01:49 am (UTC)(link)
"I suppose it could be worse. Well, this part, at any rate." Though it could be better, in his mind, as in standing still on the ground. But he can handle this. Look at him handling this.

All Dennett can think of is she and her sister facing each other in the Arena. Horrible thought. "That's...that's wonderful. Does that happen often? Them bringing groups of people here?"
biomechatronic: (safe distance this time)

"I imagine it is. Though I think someone to remind you of home, of who you used to be, is a great consolation at times." He'll hope so.

But this is a grim conversation and adding to the slight swing of the gondola from the light breeze, he's feeling...like a change of topic. "So what is your home like? You said...reindeer? Like Rudolph?"

He's also preferring to imagine some mountain seaside snowy reindeer filled place. It's a lot better, in every way, than the current panorama.

Wait, did she just say a reindeer was a best friend? Nah, must be an expression, or something. But then there was also...."R-rock trolls?"

FFFFF sorry wrong account

[personal profile] biomechatronic 2014-07-17 02:27 am (UTC)(link)
He...cannot deny that. Dennett's not even sure he's ever seen one at a zoo.

"Love expert trolls." Okay, he's going to need a minute. It's a bit to take in, because it's safe to say he did not expect that. Was she...mentally well? She seems so normal. "What, uh, what kind of magic?" Why not dive right in the deep end of the crazy pool?
biomechatronic: (let's talk like reasonable men)

[personal profile] biomechatronic 2014-07-18 02:25 am (UTC)(link)
"T-that's the usual?!" He clutches at the bar, trying not to think how high up they are and what sorts of horrible things could happen if he fell from this height. He's a doctor: he knows all too well all the injuries accidents can cause.

He gives a wry flash of a smile, instead. "Really? I...got in trouble for doing just about that same thing." So...he's the troll? "But no, we don't have anything like that. Or magic. Just science, medicine. What I do."
biomechatronic: (illusions of free will)

[personal profile] biomechatronic 2014-07-25 01:18 am (UTC)(link)
"That sounds...pretty amazing." Also slightly crazy. But she seems entirely sincere. "I don't think anyone I know can do that."

Though Sellars could be pretty cold, that was just a metaphor. "We have science, though, like machines." Which, clearly, given his line of work, he thinks is pretty awesome.
biomechatronic: (i'll show you illegal)

[personal profile] biomechatronic 2014-07-27 01:49 am (UTC)(link)
"She can't?" Well, so much for seeing magic in action. Which the scientist in him would need to do to really believe it. "That's, well, I suppose they wouldn't want her to be able to do that here, unfair, and all." Or use it against them, more likely.

He twitches as the gondola jolts to a halt, regaining a slightly woozily grin. He'd survived! It felt like an accomplishment. "It was nice meeting you, too, Anna. Stay, er," alive? "safe."
