The Crowning of Mindy McReady
Who| Everyone who's anyone.
What| The Crowning.
Where| A warehouse on the edge of town.
When| Starting from early evening till late into the night.
Warnings/Notes| Be sure to check the linked thread for plot purposes, even if you don't tag into it.
The party is brightly colored.
The theme, subtly, is super heroes. Boldly paints city scapes are splattered across the walls, and hallways are made to look like dingy, potentially crime ridden alleys. From the upper walkways of the warehouse, party goers can get hooked into harnesses and swing out over the dance floor. Above them, tributes and VIPS can find themselves on a clear plastic dance floor levitated above everything, looking like they're hanging in air.
Masks are passed out in plenty, and capes are easy to find, while brightly colored drinks themed around super powers are plentiful. None of them actually work, but many of the Capitol people are happy to pretend, mocking super strength or invisibility with each new beverage.
Under the dance floor a catacomb of tunnels and rooms full of obstacles is splashed with black light receptive colors. Party goers are given vests and laser guns, marked green for villains and red for heros, and set loose to hunt each other in the laser tags playground. The screens in the dance floor keep a running tally of which side is winning, displaying the players on the screens around the room, along with clips from the arenas.
About half way through the night, everyone is gathered to the main stage for a special announcement.

THANE KRIOS | pre & post-reaping open
Fashion and dressing up for these occasions was an event in of itself. He was dressed up in a form fitting suit. It was dark, and gave him the ability to slide into the shadows without any questions. The fact that it was snug was suited to him, too. he could move fast and easily. No capes, like he had seen on others, no strangely elaborate costumes. The mask, though, he didn't appreciate. It was a little intrusive, and didn't make his vision ideal.
The special announcement drew him in, although he still lingered towards the back when the time for it came. He listened for his name, for Shepard's, and for Garrus'. He also kept his ears ready for anyone else that he had casually spoken to on the network, or that he had seen.
Re: THANE KRIOS | pre & post-reaping open
Harley was at her limit. She burst out laughing as she saw Thane and bounced over to him.
"Do you guys even have superheroes on your planet? Ya know? Fictional heroes with powers beyond mere mortal...whatever you ares?" Not the least bit shy about speaking with a stranger, possibly because she always figured she was the strange one in any room.

"Are you perhaps stoic, sometimes snarky, acrobatic and charming?" She quizzed him with entirely too much weight in her voice. Like this might be the most important question he ever answers.

"This is just irritatingly creepy now. I mean the least they coulda done was pair up the right hero or villain outfit with the right tributes. You GOTTA be charming and snarky if you're gonna be Nightwing." She complained.
"Then again with your voice charming might be a stretch. Did you get stabbed in the throat or something?" Harley, ever the polite one.
no subject
"I'm not certain who Nightwing is." There were no reasons to address her comment regarding his voice.
He didn't really care.
no subject
"He's pretty smooth, there's a long long loooooong list of super powered girls he's gone to bed with. Not me of course but with a cute little toosh like his I can see why it works."
no subject
"I don't as questions, I just wear what I am given." In an effort to not draw attention to himself.

At least that was what she was going to say for now. It wasn't always true not even with her. But what did he know? He didn't even know who Nightwing was.
no subject
It was his way of answering her...question. It was barely even a question. It sounded like an accusation.

"It isn't about if you're in it here. It isn't about skill." Luck. Luck was everything.
no subject
Truth be told she didn't care one way or another in the luck vs. skill debate. But this guy was annoying her so she turned on the cheerfulness full power.
"All those people going hungry all because you couldn't be bothered to care."

The plight of the districts was out of his control and no fault of his own. He only cared in his desire to make the universe a better place. But by fixing things here, and only here, he was doing little. It was, in the end, not his problem to deal with.
He was not there to argue his point, just pass on what he had heard and experienced. "Is that what they told you to get you to fight?" Thane asked.
no subject
"Oh like I needed motivation. I'm a documented lunatic and would have joined the fight just for fun! That's what's most important to me. That and of course..." She fluttered her eyelashes and purred at him.
"Love~"
no subject
Thane had known lunatics (although only ever briefly - they were often murdered quickly). He wasn't up for playing with one. He folded his arms over his chest and stepped back, away from her. "Of course...love." It wasn't like he didn't understand the tone.
"I see how this is." He was not amused or impressed. "It isn't my place to judge." But oh, he was judging.
no subject
"So what exactly is it if you see how it is?" She challenged with her hands on her hips. "No seriously I've lost track of what we're talking about. Do you see how this moment here is or love is or..." She laughed.
no subject
"It has nothing to do with love."
no subject
"And let's be real, anything can be fruitful if you're creative enough. You're just boring...despite how startling you appear." She stuck her tongue out in defiance of his claim.
no subject
"I think I will have to decide if this is worthwhile in time."
no subject
This was more an effort of irritation now, she couldn't help but enjoy forcing her presence on those without a clear sense of humor. But there was many more people in familiar costumes she'd have to harass. So as quickly as she appeared she had vanished into the crowd.
